Joe Rubalcaba is a WGA West filmmaker and AI Technical Director with over two decades of experience bridging the gap between traditional cinema and emerging technology. Born and based in Los Angeles, he has built a career rooted in high-fidelity storytelling, serving as a director, producer, and editor for some of the industry’s most prominent names.
Joe established his cinematic voice in music videos as half of the directing duo Artificial Army. Represented by Partizan, he directed visuals for iconic artists like The Mars Volta and Flogging Molly. His narrative work spans award-winning independent features, hit comedy series for HDNet, and viral content for The Nerdist, The Jim Henson Co., Legendary Entertainment, and Nickelodeon.
Today, Joe is at the forefront of the generative AI revolution, architecting hybrid workflows for global brands and companies including Google, Netflix, Coca-Cola, and Lionsgate. Specializing in brand-safe cinematic pipelines, he leverages advanced tools to deliver high-end content at the speed of culture.
